Rotator Cuff Tendonitis
Is your child playing baseball and experiencing pain in their shoulder?
They could have rotator cuff tendonitis. Also known as Swimmer's Shoulder,
Tennis Shoulder, Pitcher's Shoulder, or Shoulder Impingement Syndrome,
rotator cuff tendonitis comes from the inflammation and tearing of the
4 muscle tendons surrounding the shoulder. The pain usually begins during
the activity and if left untreated without will lead
to pain with everyday activities such as raising one's arm above the
head
to
dress
or even
to shake someone's
hand. Dr. Case can evaluate the athlete and provide physical therapy
and treatment at Active Health & Wellness Center. Rotator Cuff Tendonitis
is a very serious condition that requires more extensive treatment to
prevent
rotator
cuff
tears which is a surgical condition.

Shin Splints
Shin Splints are a common condition in the track athletes at John Adams
High School. As well as anyone who begins running after a long "layoff" period.
Shin Splint is a catch all term used to describe an aching pain on the
front of the lower leg. If the condition is left untreated, it can lead
to more serious conditions such as stress fractures. An athlete who has
been evaluated and treated and has not improved with several visits including
stretching, taping, massage and ice would be encouraged to undergo further
evaluation, radiographic studies, and treatment. With the use of different
physical therapy modalities at Active Health & Wellness Center we can
help to speed the healing process of your athlete. Often times pronation
or fallen arches in the feet can be corrected easily by prescribing orthotics
that can be custom fitted in our office.
