Physical rehabilitation at our facility in South Bend includes a wide variety of proven exercises that benefit our patients. Depending on the specific needs and goals of the patient, a prescribed exercise plan might include balance training, breathing exercises, coordination exercises, postural stabilization, body mechanics training, neuromuscular re-education, soft tissue stretching, strength and endurance exercises, and relaxation exercises. Our exercise programs help patients increase strength and flexibility and maintain joint mobility.

If you are experiencing pain and avoiding physical activity, you may be surprised at how a safe exercise plan can provide relief. Our knowledgeable team, led by Dr. Meyers, works one-on-one with each patient in our dedicated therapy room to provide careful guidance throughout your physical rehabilitation. Not only can exercise therapy aid in recovery after an injury and relieve pain, it may improve your overall health and reduce your risk of disease.

Exercise rehabilitation has proven to be an effective alternative to surgery for certain injuries of the knee and shoulder, osteoarthritis, and conditions such as degenerative disc disease, among others. Dr. Meyers will carefully evaluate and monitor your condition, and may also incorporate other types of physical therapy into treatment, including ultrasound, interferential current, intersegmental traction, G-5 vibration, therapeutic stretching and cryotherapy.

Active Health and Wellness Center has grown in our 20 years of providing excellent care to our patients. Our facility offers multiple treatment and examination rooms, traction roller tables, massage chairs and a large physical therapy and exercise rehabilitation room that allow our patients to receive all of their care at one convenient location.
